THIS IS A HEALTHY CHANGE!

RV Business
Monday, September 10, 2007

Middlebury, Ind.-based towable builder Pilgrim International Inc. has begun production on selected 2008 models built with a composite fiberglass and polypropylene one-piece flooring.

According to a press release, the new seamless CosmoLite flooring is lightweight, water-resistant, and is more durable than traditional wood and luan products. Pilgrim noted the product is also recyclable and contains no formaldehyde or volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are harmful to the environment.

The substrate flooring will be standard equipment immediately on all Pilgrim International Cirrus and Pilgrim 1500 Lite Series travel trailers for 2008. The company said plans are to integrate CosmoLite across all of its product lines.

“This is another innovation toward our goal of eliminating wood and other outdated materials as we move towards manufacturing an all composite recreational vehicle,” said Jerry Sell, vice president of sales and marketing.

Pilgrim said the CosmoLite composite floor system also addresses one of the industry’s most costly warranty concerns.

“This new technology is a welcome end to floor rot,” said Doug Lantz, vice president of product development. “For all RV manufacturers and dealers, water damage to wooden substrates is one of the most costly and common warranty issues you can imagine. Our new CosmoLite floors are completely waterproof from both the inside and from the undercarriage.”
