NHTSA RECALLS FOR JANUARY 2012

Thor is recalling certain model year 2012 Dutchmen Voltage and Rubicon trailers, manufactured from July 19, 2011 through December 21, 2011. The trailer wheels may not be fully seated on the hub and therefore may loosen and potentially detach from the trailer. Wheel separation can lead to loss of control of the trailer increasing the risk of a crash. A detached wheel also poses a risk of injury to pedestrians and other vehicles. Thor will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the wheels, and repair the trailers as necessary, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during February 2012. Crossroads RV is recalling certain model year 2012 Rushmore and Elevation recreational vehicles manufactured from June 1, 2011, through January 12, 2012, with panther style 16" 8-lug aluminum wheels. These vehicles have been manufactured with an incorrect wheel center cap. The center cap that was assembled with the trailer did not provide adequate clearance to allow the wheel to fully seat on the hub face of the axle. This can result in a wheel becoming loose and potentially coming off of the trailer. A wheel separation can lead to loss of control of the trailer increasing the risk of a crash, serious injuries, or damage to others. DRV Suites (DRV), formerly Doubletree RV, is recalling certain model year 2008 and 2010-2011 Select, Mobile, and Elite Suite recreational vehicles manufactured from June 12, 2007, through October 27, 2010 and equipped with disc brakes. Due to the paint applied to the aluminum wheel and hub face, the wheel may become loose. This situation can result in the wheel/rim moving, shearing of the wheel studs and the wheel coming off of vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. DRV will notify owners, and dealers will remove the paint from the hub face and the back of the wheels free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during February or early March 2012. FEMA UNITS REQUIRE DISCLAIMER

RV dealerships have recently been investigated for failing to pass along a required federal disclosure certificate when they resell FEMA units, according to RVDA, which reminds members that they are legally required to pass along the “Useable Travel Trailer Certificate” notice. The disclosure informs buyers that the FEMA units aren't intended to be permanent housing.
The RVs FEMA bought after Hurricane Katrina and auctioned off by the General Services Administration (GSA) require the special disclosure at the time of sale and must be passed to all subsequent buyers.

Dealers should be particularly cautious with trailer trade-ins from 2005 and 2006 and confirm the vehicles' histories, according to RVDA. The best way to research vehicle history is to run the VIN against the GSA's database of Katrina trailers or to ask the trailer manufacturer for a vehicle's history.

Not all of the affected FEMA units are white boxy models, according to RVDA. Some of the trailers were purchased directly from RV dealer inventory. Relying on the vehicle’s title may not be reliable, since Katrina trailers weren't titled until after their first sale at auction.

A similar issue is developing with oversized park model trailers that FEMA recently purchased and are now being auctioned through the GSA. Park models larger than 400-square-feet must comply with HUD code, but the oversized park models are not built to HUD codes, according to RVDA. Customers may be unable to title the park models, and they may run afoul of local building codes. Specifically, they may be unable to place these units in a zoned park model RV park.

All oversized compliant and non-compliant park models sold at GSA auctions come with a “Usable Park Model Trailer Certification” that the buyer must sign and pass along to all subsequent purchasers. The certificate disclaims government liability for any future issues arising from the vehicles, according to RVDA. Dealers face liability if they fail to pass along the certificate.

NHTSA RECALLS FOR DECEMBER 2011

Spartan is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 K2 recreational vehicles manufactured from September 30, 2010, through November 22, 2011, rated at 52,000 lbs and equipped with 3030 brake chambers. These
vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 121, "Air Brake Systems" because they do not meet the park brake and draw bar requirements. The park brake may not hold
the vehicle in place and if the vehicle moves, injury or property damage could occur without warning. Spartan will notify owners and install improved brake chambers, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule for this campaign. Owners may contact Spartan at 1-517-543-6400.

Keystone has revised their remedy process and is again recalling certain 2009-2011 vehicles with the "generator ready" option, or with standard generator. Some IOTA ITS-50R transfer switches are experiencing failures when exposed to high electrical loads. The failure is causing connections and wiring in the transfer switch to degrade and over heat. Continued use of the vehicle without replacing the transfer switch may damage other appliances, increase the risk of a fire, personal injury, and property damage. Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transfer switch, free of charge. The remedy for the previous recall (10V-594) was to inspect and tighten the switch connections. Baldwin Filters is recalling certain Baldwin and Hastings brand oil and fuel filters sold as aftermarket parts designed for use in a variety of small diesel engines used in light/medium duty applications such as pickup trucks, vans, or buses. The defective oil/fuel filters were manufactured between July 2011 and October 2011. The gasket material loses the ability to resist permanent deformation under heat and load.
As this event progresses, the gasket is no longer able to provide the necessary sealing capability. Fluid loss in the application will subsequently occur, which in turn could lead to power loss while the vehicle is in operation, increasing the risk of a crash. Also, a fuel leak could cause a fire. Universal Specialty Vehicles (USV) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Eagle recreational vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2010, through December 31, 2010, equipped with a Cummins ISX or ISL diesel engine. The V-band clamp assembly, part numbers Q187684, Q187685, and Q187686, used to connect the inlet and outlet cone sections to the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC)/diesel particulate filter (DPF) include a T-bolt which can fracture and fail when subjected to stress or load. A fracture or failure of the T-bolt may cause the clamp to loosen and the inlet or outlet sections attached to the DOC/DPF housing to disconnect. If the inlet or outlet sections disconnect, hot exhaust gases can vent prior to exiting the tailpipe, creating the risk of combustion and a fire. If both clamps fail, there is a risk in some applications that the DOC/DPF housing may detach completely, creating a road hazard. Motor Coach Industries (MCI) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 D4505 motor coaches manufactured from May 1, 2010, through September 30, 2011. These vehicles were equipped with Penntex alternators that, as installed, may collect moisture at the power stud. This moisture may result in corrosion buildup at and around the power stud base. This corrosion may create a short circuit between the power stud and the alternator body, which in turn could result in burning of the power stud or the power cable end. This could increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, the vehicle battery could discharge which could cause the vehicle to stall. Jayco is recalling certain model year 2012 jay Flight And Eagle Super Lite 1⁄2 ton travel trailers manufactured from October 6, 2011, through October 17, 2011. The power converters may have been built with an undersized input coil, which may cause overheating, smoking, and melting of the converter. This could result in a fire, injury or death. Jayco will notify owners, and Jayco dealers will repair the travel trailers as necessary free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during December 2011. Starcraft is recalling certain model year 2012 Autumn Ridge and Travel Star travel trailers manufactured from October 6, 2011, through October 17, 2011. Navistar is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Beaver, Holiday Rambler and Monaco Coach brand recreational vehicles manufactured from January 11, 2008, through April 15, 2011. See the above list for models. The front windshield shade may separate from the cabin body without warning, possibly impairing the driver's ability to see the roadway. An impairment to a driver's ability to see the roadway could cause a vehicle crash potentially resulting in property damage, personal injury, or death. Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the shade mounting clips and repair the vehicles as necessary free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin December 10, 2011. Keystone is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Cougar fifth wheel trailers manufactured from May 12, 2006, through February 12, 2009, for incorrect information on the federal identification tag and tire and loading information label. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of part 567, "Certification." The subject vehicles were manufactured with a label that lists the maximum tire pressure of 80psi instead of the correct maximum pressure of 65psi. Overinflating tires increases the risk of tire failure and property damage. Airstream is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 International, 16 foot , recreational vehicles manufactured from May 10, 2010, through September 27, 2011. These vehicles were manufactured with the incorrect tire information label. During replacement of the tires, a consumer could install the incorrect tire, potentially leading to property damage. Airstream will mail to consumers the corrected label or the customer will have the option for dealers to install the label free of charge. The safety recall began on October 20, 2011. Jayco is recalling certain model year 2010- 2011 Greyhawk Class C motor homes manufactured from May 28, 2009, through September 22, 2010 for an improper electrical connection at the buss bar on the affected transfer switches. This could lead to overheating and melting of the transfer switch, increasing the risk of a fire, injury or death. Dealers will replace the transfer switch free of charge. Jayco is recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Jay Feather LGT travel trailers manufactured from October 9, 2006, through April 17, 2008. These travel trailers may have insufficient clearance between the tires and the wheel well. This could allow the tires to contact the wheel well increasing the risk of a crash, injury, or death. Jayco will notify owners, and Jayco dealers will add a spacer to increase the distance between the axle and the wheel well. This service will be performed free of charge. Cruiser RV is recalling certain model year 2011 Shadow Cruiser and Viewfinder recreational vehicles, models V-27RBSS, V-22RBDS, S-285RLS, S-260BHS AND S-280QBS, manufactured from April 21, 2011, through September 6, 2011. These vehicles have the incorrect Federal ID Tag, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) information labels which fails to comply with the requirements of Part 567, "Certification." Failure to follow proper vehicle loading specifications because of a misprinted label

Keystone is recalling certain model year 2012 Passport travel trailers manufactured from September 15, 2011, through September 28, 2011. The rear living room is missing an egress window. In the event that an emergency evacuation is necessary, the absence of an egress window will increase the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the window currently installed with an egress window free of charge. The safety recall began on October 25, 2011. Spartan is recalling certain model year 2010 and 2011 K2, K3, MM, and SU incomplete recreational vehicle chassis manufactured from January 4, 2010, through January 26, 2011, equipped with an electronic control module, part number 2791-NN2E-001 or 2791-NN2E-002. When the brake is applied, the cruise control may not cancel. Additionally, these vehicles may exhibit an inadvertent, moderate increase in vehicle speed until the vehicles reaches its governed speed after the vehicle's cruise control is set. If the driver attempts to cancel the cruise control by applying the brake or if the vehicle speed increases and the driver is unaware, they may have reduced control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The manufacturer is in the process of developing a remedy for this issue. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule for this campaign. Motor Coach Industries (MCI) is recalling certain model year 2003, and 2007-2012 E and J models along with model year 2007-2012 D4000, D4005, D4500, D4505, D4000ISTV motor coaches equipped with Meritor Wabco Electronic Stability Control (ESC) modules, manufactured from October 2002, through October 2011. Under certain road and driving conditions, vehicle body roll and road inclination characteristics may adversely affect the slip angle calculation of the electronic stability control (esc) system. This might cause the esc to perceive an over steering situation and therefore apply the outer wheel brake on the front axle until the vehicle is perceived to be stable. If the driver is slow to react during this esc intervention, the vehicle may deviate from the intended line of travel, increasing the risk of a crash. MCI will notify owners and replace the control module free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. Open Range is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Journeyer recreational vehicles manufactured from August 27, 2009, through November 17, 2010. A main supporting cross member was cut out to run a liquid propane line. This can cause stress cracks on the I-beams on both sides of the trailers. While being towed, the trailer could begin a dangerous sway, ultimately rolling over, increasing the risk of personal injury or death. Fleetwood RV is recalling certain model year 2010 American Eagle, American Tradition, Discovery, Revolution LE, and Model Year 2011 American Eagle, American Heritage, American Tradition, Bounder, Bounder Classic, Discovery, Expedition, Providence, Revolution LE, and Southwind Class A motor homes equipped with Murray or Siemens brand circuit breakers. These circuit breakers have a non-conforming "spring clip" plug-in assembly that breaks or fails to provide sufficient force to maintain a proper electrical connection in the panel board. This condition could lead to excessive temperature, arcing or thermal damage at the connection point, and potential damage to the panel board's electrical insulation. This could lead to fire, property damage, or personal injury. Dealers will inspect and replace the circuit breakers if necessary, free of charge. The safety recall began on August 25, 2011. Winnebago is recalling certain model year 2012 ERA motor homes manufactured from November 11, 2010, through July 13, 2011, for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120, "Tire Selection and Rims for Motor Vehicles other than Passenger Cars." These vehicles are equipped with the wrong vehicle weight label. Noncompliance issue - weight information on the wrong format label Owners will be provided with new labels and installation instructions. At the customer's option, a dealer can perform the installation for them. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall began on August 19, 2011. Airstream is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Avenue coaches manufactured from May 10, 2010, through July 29, 2011. The driver's and passenger's seat swivel mechanism locking pin could loosen and become disengaged from the swivel mechanism allowing the seat to swivel back and forth going down the road. This swiveling, could lead to a distraction that could cause a crash, resulting in personal injury to the vehicle's occupants. Tiffin is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Phaeton motorhomes with floor plans QBH, QKH, and QTH that are built with 2010 EPA-certified engines on Powerglide chassis. The exhaust pipe is mounted too close to the underside of the floor. Melting of the insulation can occur, possibly resulting in a fire. Tiffin will notify owners, and dealers will attach a heat shield to the bottom of the floor and an insulating sock or blanket will be wrapped around the exhaust pipe. Spartan is recalling certain model year 2010, 2011, and 2012 recreational vehicles, models MM, K2, K3, Bus, Furion, Gladiator, and Metro Star, manufactured from September 29, 2010, through June 20, 2011, equipped with a Cummins ISB, ISC, ISL, or ISX diesel engine. The V-band clamp assembly, part numbers Q187684, Q187685, and Q187686, used to connect the inlet and outlet cone sections to the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)/Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) include a T-bolt which can fracture and fail when subjected to stress or load. A fracture or failure of the T-bolt may cause the clamp to loosen and the inlet or outlet sections attached to the DOC/DPF housing to disconnect. If the inlet or outlet sections disconnect, hot exhaust gases can vent prior to exiting the tailpipe, creating the risk of combustion and a fire. If both clamps fail, there is a risk in some applications that the DOC/DPF housing may detach completely, creating a road hazard. Spartan is working with Cummins to identify and notify owners of the recall campaign. Repairs will be performed by authorized Cummins dealers free of charge.

Navistar is recalling certain model year 2011 Monaco Vesta and Holiday Rambler Trip recreational vehicles manufactured from May 28, 2010, through May 18, 2011. The fuse in the high beam headlight electrical circuit may blow under normal operating conditions disabling the headlights without warning, possibly resulting in reduced driver visibility. Reduced driver visibility increases the risk of a crash, possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury, or death. Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will modify the wiring and install an uprated fuse, free of charge. Dutchmen is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Rubicon travel trailers manufactured from December 8, 2010, through July 15, 2011. These vehicles may have been manufactured with the exterior furnace vent not installed in the sidewall of the trailer. The furnace can run without the proper exhaust ventilation and release carbon monoxide to the interior of the unit. This could result in asphyxiation or carbon monoxide poisoning. The heat build up from the exhaust can also result in a fire. Dealers will inspect the trailer to verify the furnace exhaust is present and install one if necessary free of charge. Winnebago is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Winnebago Access, Access Premier, Chalet and Model Year 2011 Itasca Impulse, and Impulse Silver motor homes manufactured from March 5, 2008, through April 28, 2011. These vehicles may have the potential for the propane supply hose to make contact with the metal door frame. Contact with the door frame may wear through the hose causing a propane leak, which could ignite and result in personal injury or death. Dealers will check to make sure the propane supply hose is not damaged and replace it if necessary and add a clamp to route hose away from any unfriendly surfaces. Jayco is recalling certain model year 2011 Seneca Class C motorhomes, series 36FK and 37FS, manufactured from May 18, 2011, through July 13, 2011. These vehicles may have insufficiently torqued boltssattaching the trailer hitch to the motorhome frame. Loose hitch bolts could result in the hitch separating from the frame, creating a road hazard increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and tighten up the hitch bolts free of charge. Carriage is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Cameo, Carri-Lite, model year 2010-2011 Royals, and model year 2009 Domani 5th wheel trailers with generator transfer switches. The generator transfer switch may not be manufactured or installed to the proper specification causing a potential for excessive heat build up inside the switch. If enough heat builds up inside the switch, the switch could melt and catch fire. Dealers will inspect the generator transfer switches and replace them as necessary, free of charge. Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain model year 2010 and 2011 Damon Tuscany, Astoria, and Essence recreational vehicles and model year 2011 and 2012 TMC Tuscany and Astoria recreational vehicles manufactured from May 7, 2009, through August 12, 2011. The circuit breaker for the windshield wiper motor is insufficient for the load. The breaker should have a 15 amp rating, however the vehicle was built with one rated at 10 amps. The windshield wiper will stop operating if the breaker trips due to a circuit overload. If this occurs, the driver's field of vision may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. TMC will notify owners, and dealers will exchange the breaker with a 15-amp one, free of charge. TMC has not provided an expected start date for the recall. Tiffin motorhomes is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Phaeton, MY 2008-2010 Bus, and MY 2010 Allegro motorhomes equipped with Kongsberg automotive adjustable brake pedals. The adjustable brake pedal arm may loosen allowing the arm to rotate around its shaft and swing in front of the accelerator pedal, reducing braking function. A loose brake pedal increases the risk of a crash. Daimler Trucks (DTNA), the manufacturer of the chassis, is performing recall repairs and notification to owners. The owners were initially notified by DTNA on December 22, 2009, and a follow up notice was mailed to owners on July 20, 2011. Airstream is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Interstate touring coaches manufactured from September 18, 2008, through June 24, 2011. The driver's seat belt buckle wire could be damaged or severed when the driver's seat is adjusted forward, backward, or swiveled. This wire allows communication between the supplemental restraint system (SRS) and the vehicle control module (ECM) indicating if the driver's seat is occupied and the seat belt is buckled. If the driver's seat belt buckle wire is damaged or severed, the seat belt tensioner will not function correctly allowing the driver to not be secured to the seat, preventing proper operation of the SRS which could result in personal injury to the driver in the event of a crash. Airstream will notify owners, and dealers will repair the coaches free of charge. The safety recall began on July 21, 2011. Owners may contact Airstream at 1-937-538-1268.

Dutchmen is recalling certain model year 2012 Infinity travel trailers manufactured from February 4, 2011, through June 30, 2011, because the 12 volt main wiring in the front bulkhead compartment is incorrectly routed. On the electrical bus bar mounted to the bulkhead in the compartment, only the main power feed from the disconnect switch should be connected to the lower section of the bus bar. However, the power feed line to the solenoid for the hydraulic pump system is also wired to the lower portion of the bus bar. This circuit is not protected by an auto reset breaker. In the event of a short or ground, the unprotected circuit could result in a fire. Dealers will install an additional auto reset breaker to the bus bar and connect the power feed for the hydraulic pump system to the added breaker, which will give it the required over current protection. Fleetwood RV is recalling certain model year 2009 American Allegiance, American Heritage, Revolution LE; model year 2010 American Eagle, American Heritage, Revolution LE, and model year 2011 American Eagle, American Heritage, American Tradition, Discovery, Providence, and Revolution LE, Class A motor homes manufactured from September 4, 2009, through January 5, 2011. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of part 567, "Certification". The Federal certification tag figures related to the intermediate and rear tire pressure ratings, in kilopascals (KPA), were printed in their reverse positions. A misprinted label could lead to improper vehicle loading specifications or tire inflation which could result in a tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash. Fleetwood RV will mail the correct federal certification tags to dealers and owners along with installation instructions. Dutchmen is recalling certain model year 2012 Voltage travel trailers manufactured from January 3, 2011, through July 8, 2011, and manufactured with fuel supply and fuel return hoses that may contain a splice in the fuel line. Lines that contain a splice may leak fuel, which could result in a potential fire. Dealers will inspect the fuel lines between the fuel tank and the generator. Eclipse is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Milan Tl18CK and TL22CK recreational vehicles manufactured from December 20, 2010, through February 11, 2011, for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." These vehicles where produced with the wrong tire placard label. A misprinted label could lead to improper vehicle loading specifications or tire inflation which could result in a tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash. Keystone is recalling certain model year 2012 residence travel trailers produced from May 6, 2011, through May 18, 2011. The wiring connection to the 120 volt light on the ceiling of the slide room has the incorrect wiring connectors. The incorrect wiring connectors could cause a loose electrical connection leading to an increased risk of fire, property damage and/or personal injury. Dealers will replace the incorrect connectors (crimp style bell caps) with twist on wire nuts. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall began on June 20, 2011. Tiffin motorhomes is recalling certain model year 2006-2010, Allegro and Allegro Bay recreational vehicles, manufactured from January 2005, through April 2010, and built on a Daimler/Freightliner chassis. The brake lights may be intermittent during light brake applications. The brake lights may not illuminate consistently upon brake application and fail to properly indicate to a following vehicle that the motorhome has slowed or come to a stop, increasing the risk of a crash. Daimler trucks (DTNA), manufacturer of the chassis, will notify owners and repairs will be performed by DTNA dealerships, free of charge. (See DTNA's recall campaign 10V-178.) Keystone is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Cougar High Country travel trailers produced from November 3, 2010, through May 26, 2011, for having 4400 pound axles installed instead of 5200 pound axles. If a vehicle is loaded to the maximum stated GVWR of 10,000 pounds, the 4400 pound axle will be overloaded. Overloading the axle could lead to an increase risk of axle failure, property damage and/or vehicle crash. Dealers will replace the axles with the correct ones free of charge. With contaminated brakes the vehicle may fail to stop properly resulting in a loss of control of the vehicle increasing the risk of a crash and/or injury without warning. The cord for hooking into an external electrical power supply has the potential to drape directly in front of the furnace exhaust. Cequent is recalling certain Reese, p/n 54970, and Pro Series, p/n 63970, branded weight distribution shanks that were imported and sold in the aftermarket to wholesale distributors, installers, mail order, and other customers. These parts were sold both individually and as a component in certain Reese and Pro Series weight distributing kits. Due to an error in production, some of the weight distribution shanks may have an incorrect metallurgy. The shank may fracture during installation or use, potentially causing a crash. MAKER OF COLEMAN TRAILERS HAS CLOSED

Word spread throughout the industry today (Jan. 20) that the manufacturer of the legendary Coleman folding camping trailer — FTCA Inc. — has shut down its plant in Somerset, Pa.
And while company spokesmen were unavailable for comment, it appears that those rumors are true – based on reports from several reliable sources.
”We got an e-mail from our regional sales manager stating that they (company employees) were told yesterday at 3 o’clock that the company was no longer in business,” confirms Andy Heck, president of Alpin Haus, a Coleman dealer in Amsterdam, N.Y., since the 1970s. “We assumed that an announcement would be made to a dealer body as a whole.”
On the other hand, several other Coleman dealers contacted today said they had not been informed of the company’s closure.
Meanwhile, Heck predicts that the Coleman brand, built for a period of years prior to FTCA by Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., will reappear. FTCA was licensing the Coleman brand name from outdoor outfitter The Coleman Company Inc., Wichita, Kan.
”I think someone will take it over,” Heck said. ”It’s too good a brand for someone not to pick it up.”
FTCA was formed in 2008 by the New York investment firm Blackstreet Capital Management LLC, which bought the Somerset plant from Fleetwood.
Coleman itself built popups in Somerset from 1967 to 1989 when Fleetwood purchased the company.
Fleetwood built Coleman popups until 2003 when Fleetwood and Coleman parted ways.

BLUE BIRD WANDERLODGE FACTORY FRAUD AND LAWSUIT

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. -- On Nov. 18, an Ottawa County, Mich., jury rendered a verdict that Blue Bird Corporation committed intentional fraud, among other things, in that it knowingly manufactured 57 overweight and dangerous motorhomes and for two years, between 2004-2006, sold them to unsuspecting customers, a law firm representing victims reported today.

Blue Bird manufactured and sold these coaches, designated Blue Bird "Wanderlodge M450 LXi", at prices starting at $700,000 and reaching more than $1 million dollars.

The jury verdict stated that Blue Bird made the fraudulent statements with the intent that the statements be relied upon by its customer and that Blue Bird intentionally created a false impression about its product intending that its customer would rely upon it, said H. Joel Newman, a founding shareholder in the law firm of Hyman Lippitt PC.

The jury verdict was rendered in favor of Anthony McNeal, of Franklin, Mich., on his claims for fraud, silent fraud, breach of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, and breach of implied warranty.

Newman, who served as McNeal's lead trial attorney, said he believes it is critical that this information finally comes to light six years after the first dangerous vehicle was manufactured, because this company manufactures and sells school buses that transport thousands of children every day.

The lawsuit alleged that the defects in these motorhomes, which Blue Bird denied and/or failed to disclose, were known for years, even as it continued to manufacture and sell the vehicles caused, among other things, a disproportionate number of front tire problems, especially on the curb side of the vehicle, said Newman. He believes at least one fatal accident was caused by the same defects the jury found. The fatal accident occurred in October 2007 ,and is the subject of a secret settlement between Blue Bird and the family of the decedent, said Newman.

Shortly after the accident, in December 2007, Blue Bird reported the problem to NHTSA. Customers were notified in March 2008.

Blue Bird then conducted a recall which did not resolve the problem, said Newman. Then it conducted a second phase of the recall that resulted in additional problems, he added. Subsequently, a third phase recall was conducted. The jury found that the vehicle was still defective even after the third recall by Blue Bird, said Newman.

"During the trial, company witnesses admitted knowing the coaches were built with tie rods which did not meet their specifications," said Newman. "According to the witnesses, when Blue Bird learned of the tie rod problem, it failed to warn customers or dealers promptly, and continued to manufacture and sell the coaches. They also admitted that failed tie rods could result in loss of steering control.

"Company engineers admitted on cross examination that the company had weighed the coaches at the time of manufacture and knew of the overweight condition since 2004," he added. "Company witnesses admitted on cross examination that the coaches should never have been built or sold in their overweight condition."

Several of the engineers involved testified that the best fix would have been to reduce the weight of the coaches substantially, Newman explained.

According to the lawsuit, that would have been expensive, and was not done. "The lawsuit alleged that in the end, the company opted for a series of less expensive solutions," said Newman. "Hyman Lippitt PC believes in the interim, Blue Bird misrepresented the unloaded vehicle weights and the cargo carrying capacities of the coaches and continued to sell them.

"Months before the fatal accident in October 2007, Blue Bird sold its motorhome division to Coachworks Holdings, Inc.," Newman explained. "Coachworks' president, Dale T. Carson, testified that Blue Bird had not disclosed that the vehicles exceeded their axle weight ratings until after Coachworks had purchased the business. Mr. Carson testified that Coachworks learned of the problem after the purchase and never manufactured a single Wanderlodge M450 LXi. Coachworks is now in Chapter 11 bankruptcy."

A member of the family that founded Oregon-based Country Coach plans to reopen the company in January, on what appears to be a smaller scale — at least initially — than the RV maker formerly operated on, the Eugene Register-Guard reported.
Country Coach LLC went out of business last year.
Newly incorporated Country Coach Corp. says on its website: “We are pleased to announce that Country Coach Corporation is starting up operations at the factory in Junction City, Oregon, on January 3, 2011. At that time we will post contact numbers for our service center and our technical service support lines here on our website.”
“Country Coach Corporation owns all of the intellectual property (IP) of the former Country Coach, Inc. and Country Coach LLC,” according to the website, www.countrycoach.com. “This IP includes all of the production tooling and molds for fabricating virtually every part of your Country Coach Motorhome. Also included in the IP are all of the engineering drawings, bills of material, and as-built configurations for Country Coach Motor homes and DynoMax chassis built over the years.
“Our initial goal is to use the power of the IP and factory trained personnel to supply complete coach service, parts manufacturing, paint shop, phone technical service, and consignment sales to help maintain the investment in your Country Coach Motorhome.”
At the bottom of the website is a photo of a Country Coach RV, with the caption “Ron Lee’s 2009 Country Coach Magna.” Lee, who could not be reached for comment, is listed as the agent for Country Coach Corp. in state records.
Lee’s brother, Bob, founded Country Coach in 1973. The company was sold to California-based National R.V. Holdings in 1996, but Lee and others complained about what they saw as the new owner’s lack of support for the Junction City operation. A group led by Los Angeles investment banker Bryant Riley that included Bob Lee bought Country Coach back in 2007, shortly before the recession hit. Country Coach LLC, which had financial problems, attempted to reorganize under the protection of bankruptcy court, was unable to do so and was liquidated.
Earlier this year, Ron and Bob Lee and Bob’s wife, Terry, bought the company’s intellectual property as well as key pieces of equipment at auction. The family already owns most of the land and buildings.
Junction City’s interim administrator, Jamon Kent, said Friday that the city is aware — “and very supportive” — of efforts to resurrect Country Coach in some form.
“Country Coach is an extremely important part of our town and has been for some time,” Kent said. At its peak, Country Coach employed about 1,800 people. And, Kent said, the company and its employees supported other local businesses.
Kent said he believes Ron Lee plans, at least initially, to serve Country Coach owners who want to repair or modify their RVs, rather than build new ones. David Diamond, who is working with Lee on the start-up, said he couldn’t provide much information beyond what is on the company website.
But, he said, “Ron Lee has three goals: To save the property, to save the name Country Coach, and to bring back jobs to Lane County for so many workers that formerly worked for Country Coach, or the RV industry, or any industry that has gone away in our neighborhood.”

GREAT OPINION PIECE

The following opinion piece was written and provided to RVBUSINESS.com by Paul Friesen, owner of the KOA campground in Watkins Glen, N.Y. In his e-mail, Friesen explained,

“Please understand that I am a big supporter of the camping and RVing industry. Owning and running a campground truly is a wonderful way of life, and it is one that is really good for the folks we serve. Unfortunately, sometimes we need to ‘walk in the shoes of others.’ My wife and I have done so by being full-time RVers, so not only have we walked in their ’shoes’ but we obviously have also gotten blisters from them, too. I sincerely want a unified industry that focuses on taking care of the camper and the RVer. And for folks that seemingly can only be motivated by profits, I can with certainty say that they would be much more successful and more profitable by focusing on the needs of the customer.”

Full timing in a BIG RIG motorhome is both a delight and a nightmare. Fortunately the delights still outnumber the nightmares. But unfortunately, many of the nightmares are caused by the RVing industry itself and are totally unnecessary. To put this article in perspective, I, too, am involved in the RVing industry, as my wife and I own a prominent campground in New York State. We also have been full-time RVers for a little over two years. Since my wife and I do own a campground, let me start with campgrounds. Simply stated, very few campgrounds can effectively accommodate BIG RIGS. Most say they can, but few really can, and mostly because they don’t seem to know how. They think, “This is a long pull-thru, therefore it’s a BIG RIG site”. But that isn’t enough! Roads have to be wide enough, turning radiuses have to be sufficient, trees have to be properly trimmed, and obstacles have to be cleared… all before considering the required 50 amp power and other site utilities that may be necessary.
RV dealers generally don’t accommodate the service needs of either full timers or vacationers well at all. They seem to have built their businesses based on servicing weekender RVers who can leave their unit with the dealer for extended periods. Complicating matters, most dealers seem to work on an “appointment only” basis, and then they maintain a service backlog of at least a month. Both as a campground owner trying to help an RVer customer and also as an RVer myself, this creates intense frustration.
RV manufacturers seem almost entirely disconnected with RVers. It’s as if after they’ve delivered the unit to the RV dealer, their job is done. In my opinion, any manufacturer who chooses to install exclusive or proprietary systems has an obligation for making timely repairs available with minimal inconvenience to the customer. To not do so is irresponsible.
On the other hand, I’ve come to realize that I when I have a chassis issue, I can get pretty good and timely service from a truck repair shop. But I guess they have to be responsive … just imagine if the over-the-road trucking industry had to rely on the RV industry to keep them rolling!
The truth is that the RVing industry as a whole often does not do a good job of taking care of the customer. If we (myself included) in the RVing industry do not take care of our customers, then we really don’t deserve to stay in business.

Hi-Lo Trailer Co. of Bellville, Ohio, has ceased production, becoming the third North American RV manufacturer to shutter its doors so far this year.

Calls to Hi-Lo were not returned, but a dealer in Ohio confirmed to RV PRO the widely reported news that the company has ceased production of new units.

Hi-Lo is now the third company to cease operations in 2010. In early July, new manufacturer Heritage One RV closed its doors suddenly without notifying its dealer members. In January, Glendale International Corp. of Ontario, Canada, also closed its doors.

MVP RV BUYING TWO FACTORIES IN RIVERSIDE, CA THAT USED TO BE OWNED BY FLEETWOOD

Moreno Valley, Calif.-based MVP RV has agreed to buy two factories once used by Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. for $18.6 million, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reported.
Fleetwood Enterprises filed for bankruptcy in March 2009. Since then, the company sold off its RV and manufactured housing divisions as well as factories it owned across the country. The company expects a final bankruptcy plan outlining what its creditors are owed to be approved before the end of July.
The two plants, located north of downtown Riverside off Market Street at 2350 Fleetwood Drive and 5300 Via Ricardo, sit on 36 acres and have 460,000 square feet of space.
According to a legal filing, the offer of $18.6 million, or about $40.43 a square foot, was Fleetwood’s best offer.
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court approved the sale to go forward earlier this month.
The property had been used as collateral to secure a $27.3 million loan from ISIS, a lender which will receive the proceeds from the sale.
The deal is expected to close before Aug. 1, according to a legal filing.
MVP RV had shut down its Moreno Valley plant in the middle of 2009 where it built travel trailers and reopened it in March after receiving funding from an overseas investor.
An agreement MVP RV had to build electric vehicles for South Korean firm CT&T stalled earlier this year.
Officials at MVP RV said negotiations are ongoing.
Brad Williams, CEO of MVP RV, wouldn’t say why his company is interested in buying the plants or if the purchase would affect MVP’s operations in Moreno Valley.
“We can’t comment on it right now,” Williams said by phone.
American Industrial Partners, a New York equity firm which bought Fleetwood’s RV division for $33.2 million in mid-2009, had rented the Riverside manufacturing facilities through November of that year, said Amy Coleman, a spokeswoman for Fleetwood RV, now based in Decatur, Ind.
The new company, known as Fleetwood RV, moved all of its operations to Indiana except for an office it leases in Corona for the company’s chief financial officer, accounting staff and marketing employees, she said.

HI-LO TRAILERS NOW A PART OF RV HISTORY

BELLVILLE, Ohio -- Hi-Lo Manufacturing company has stopped manufacturing its unique brand of fold out trailers, RV Daily Report learned today.

The company notified dealers that it would no longer manufacture the trailers, but one dealer said she was still able to order parts from the company.

The announcement came late last week and the company's sales representatives were terminated, one rep told RV Daily Report today.

The company was launched in 1955. The trailers are unique to the RV industry because they fold down for towing and fold out into full-size travel trailer at the campsite.

Callers to the corporate office hear a voice message saying the firm is only open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday, a schedule that was put into effect a few months ago.

One source familiar with the decision said the company was slow to respond to a changing market, and their post-recession sales reflected that fact.

Dealers are to receive a letter early this week alerting them to the closer, one source said.

FEMA TRAILER SALES NEWS

Amarillo, TX - Concerns over the safety of FEMA travel trailers are surfacing here in Amarillo. Talking to some people today who are interested in buying one of the trailers, their major concerns seemed to center around what they look like.

But a few years ago the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) were more concerned with what you can't see.

335 of such trailers will be auctioned off in the Amarillo area tomorrow. But in 2007 and 2008 the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Centers for Disease Control tested more than 500 trailers given to displaced citizens after hurricane Katrina.

The tests were in response to multiple cases of poisoning from formaldehyde. A colorless gas used to make walls, furniture and cabinets in mobile homes.

"All travel trailers used formaldehyde during the time these were manufactured and that's why we are saying they shouldn't be used for permanent housing," Spanky Assiter of Assiter Auctioneers says.

Though Assiter Auctioneers is making no secrets about where these trailers come from, some people are still very concerned.

"We don't want to get sick. We don't want our children to get sick," one concerned shopper said.

Another said, "the mold is something that's concerning me."

But since there is no minimum bid on the auction, Assiter Auctioneers says many should sell anyway.

But owners should be aware of the issues from the past. "I would assume the worst case scenario," Spanky Assiter says.

After the Centers for Disease Control tested the trailers a few years ago, it was deemed they are only dangerous as permanent residences.

Which Assister Auctioneers says they are not recommending as the proper use anyway.

THE DRIVE PIN WHICH SECURES THE BRAKE PEDAL ARM TO THE BALANCE ASSEMBLY MAY BECOME DISENGAGED, THIS MAY CAUSE A REDUCTION IN VEHICLE BRAKING AND/OR CAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MOVE OUT OF POSITION AND INTERFERE WITH THROTTLE PEDAL FUNCTION.
Consequence:
A REDUCTION IN BRAKING OR INTERFERENCE WITH THE THROTTLE PEDAL COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy:

WINNEBAGO HAS NOTIFIED NHTSA OF A DEFECT IN CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2009 MOTORHOMES FITTED WITH RICON PUBLIC USE LIFTS. THE RESTRAINT BELT ON THESE LIFTS WAS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE LIFT FROM MOVING, UNLESS THE TONGUE OF THE BELT IS FULLY ENGAGED AND LATCHED IN THE BUCKLE. RICON HAS DISCOVERED, HOWEVER, THAT IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE OPERATOR TO INSERT THE BELT TONGUE INTO THE BUCKLE WITHOUT FULLY ENGAGING THE LATCHING MECHANISM. IN THIS CASE, THE RESTRAINT BELT WOULD APPEAR TO BE LATCHED, AND THE OPERATOR COULD RUN THE LIFT. IF THE RESTRAINT BELT TONGUE IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED INTO THE RESTRAINT BELT BUCKLE, AND LATCHED, THE LIFT MAY OPERATE WITH AN OCCUPANT ON THE PLATFORM.
Consequence:
THE USER OF THE LIFT COULD BE INJURED SHOULD THE LIFT MOVE WITHOUT THE RESTRAINT BELT PROPERLY BUCKLED.
Remedy:
WINNEBAGO IS WORKING WITH RICON AND RICON WILL BE HANDLING THE REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. PLEASE SEE RICON¿S DEFECT REPORT 09E-060. Consequence:

BOB LEE MAY START UP A NEW VERSION OF COUNTRY COACH

Bob Lee, founder and former CEO of defunct luxury RV manufacturer Country Coach Inc., along with his brother Ron Lee, may start a new company to build motorhomes after spending about $190,000 to buy Country Coach’s intellectual properties and some equipment during the bankruptcy auction last week.
But the new firm more than likely won’t build Country Coach-brand motorhomes.
“If we do this it probably won’t be under the Country Coach name, but it will have some attachment to that name, of course, because it’s a very quality name,” Lee said. “It will be tied to Country Coach, for sure.”
Lee said no timetable has yet been established for when the new company will begin building RVs.
“I don’t have (a timetable)”, Lee said.
Bob and Ron Lee purchased the intellectual property of the Junction City, Ore., high-end manufacturer, including brand names and blueprints plus steel fabrication equipment, 13 paint booths and chassis testing equipment during the court-ordered auction after Country Coach attempted to stave off foreclosure for nearly a year.
“Acquiring the (intellectual property) was the thing we had to do to go forward,” Lee told RVBUSINESS.com. “We felt like we needed to get control of the name and all the pieces that go with it.”
Lee founded Country Coach in 1973 as Country Campers to build pickup toppers and truck campers in a 2,000-square-foot building with two employees. Later Ron Lee joined the company. In the early 1980s, the company was renamed Country Coach Inc. and the Lees started converting luxury buses and later building luxury Class A motorhomes on their own DynoMax chassis.
The company grew to employ more than 1,500 people and occupied a 450,000-square-foot factory and service facility — property that the Lees still own.
In 1996, Country Coach was sold to National RV Holdings Inc., a California manufacturer that built Class A motorhomes and fifth-wheel travel trailers.
Lee continued as Country Coach chairman while the Lees retained ownership of the factory complex and leasing it to Country Coach.
In 2007, National RV sold Country Coach to a group of investors led by Los Angeles investment banker Bryant Riley. In early 2009, Country Coach filed for bankruptcy which resulted in last week’s auction.

COUNTRY COACH GOING TO AUCTION TODAY

Everything that isn’t bolted down in the sprawling Country Coach Holdings LLC plant in Junction City, Ore., is to be sold at auction today (Feb. 4) and Friday, with proceeds going to satisfy creditors of the bankrupt RV manufacturer, according to The Register-Guard, Eugene, Ore.
Copiers, cabinets and couches. Sanders, saws and routers. Generators, flat-screen televisions and microwave ovens. Enough nuts, bolts, washers and screws to stock a hardware store.
Pallets stacked with company documents, including such intellectual property as blueprints, schematic drawings, parts lists and customer lists are up for bid, as are pickup trucks, minivans, golf carts, and of course, Country Coach’s signature, über-luxury motor homes.
Even the contents of former CEO Jay Howard’s office — including his business books, desk and three safes — are up for bid.
It’s a sobering end for the once high-flying Country Coach, which at its peak employed about 2,000 Lane County area residents.
In all, some 1,600 lots will be sold at auction, to buyers who show up at the plant to bid in person, by phone or via the Internet. As of Wednesday, the auctioneers had registered 335 bidders in-person, and another 150 who intend to bid online, said Rob Beal of Commercial Industrial Auctioneers in Portland, which is conducting the auction in partnership with Hilco Industrial.

The big-ticket items are 10 completed motorcoaches, which in ordinary circumstances would have had retail prices ranging from $400,000 to $900,000. In addition, 17 coaches in various stages of completion will be auctioned as well.
Beal wouldn’t hazard a guess at what the auction will yield. Conceivably, a single bidder could submit a bid for everything with an eye toward restarting the business or starting a new company.
“It’s been entertained,” Beal said. “But no one could come up with the cash to keep creditors and the (bankruptcy) trustee happy.”
Country Coach filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last winter to gain breathing room from creditors while it attempted to reorganize its finances. The company resumed production with a skeleton crew last April at a rate of one coach per week, but shut down again last fall amid faltering sales. In November, a judge converted the case to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy and ordered the company’s assets liquidated to satisfy creditors — namely Wells Fargo Bank, the company’s main secured creditor.
Prospective bidders include other RV manufacturers, contractors, cabinet shops, welders, fabricators, dealers and individuals like Bob Relyea, a retiree who traveled from Dallas, Texas. Relyea said he’s interested in buying one of the finished coaches, if he can find a bargain, to replace his 2000 Country Coach Magna.
“It doesn’t hurt to come and take a look,” he said.
Dan Russell, a partner in Oregon RV Repair, an RV service center in The Dalles, was checking out parts, many of which are “too fancy” for the vehicles his business deals with.
Ed Read and Pat Mason from Oregon Motorcoach Center, an RV service facility started by Country Coach founder Bob Lee, were checking out parts and materials they may bid on for their business.
Read worked at Country Coach for nearly 32 years and said it was “terribly sad” to see the once-proud company being sold off in pieces.
“I put a lot of my life into this company,” he said. “I never thought it would come down to this.”
Bert Bergman of Port Townsend, Wash., was looking for stuff that could have marine applications that he could resell on his eBay business, Spit in the Ocean.
“Most of the stuff in these land yachts you can use in a boat,” he said.
As he walked through the cavernous paint shop, Bergman said it was sad, in a way, to see an RV maker get liquidated.
“On the other hand, these dinosaurs got to get off the road,” he said. “So maybe we’re just putting the rich out of their misery.”

CANADIAN RV BUILDER GLENDALE FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY

Unions representing workers at RV manufacturer Glendale International Corp. were surprised when the Canadian RV manufactuer announced Tuesday (Jan. 19) that it had filed for voluntary bankruptcy protection, according to the Toronto Star. The Oakville, Ont.-based company said it has spent the past few months undertaking an “extensive” internal review, looking at strategies to rebuild its recreational vehicle division.
However, high gasoline prices, a rising Canadian dollar and the lingering effects of recession have taken a toll on Glendale International, forcing the company into bankruptcy, chief executive Edward Hanna said.
Hanna said there does not appear to be a significant rebound in store for the Canadian RV industry.
“The board of directors determined that a voluntary assignment in bankruptcy was in the best interests of the corporation’s stakeholders,” he said in a statement.
The company said all of the Glendale directors have resigned, but didn’t provide details on how the bankruptcy affects its employees or customers.
Calls to Glendale’s head office were not immediately returned.
About 110 hourly workers were temporarily laid off from the Glendale plant in Strathroy when it shut down in November. Colin Cherry of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represented the workers, said the laid-off employees expected to be recalled in February.
“We were going into a program to improve the workplace, getting new technology — that was in a couple of weeks’ time,” Cherry said.
“The union and the company were going into a partnership agreement, which is quite disappointing because it’s never going to materialize now.”
In Alberta, the United Steelworkers represented about 60 Glendale workers who worked at a plant in Red Deer, manufacturing Travelaire-brand RVs.
The news of Glendale’s bankruptcy came as a surprise to Nick Stewart, president of United Steelworkers Local 1-207.
“I was under the impression that Glendale was actually in a pretty good financial position,” Stewart said. “They’ve got a rather substantial cash position as well. They haven’t exactly been running on credit. It’s a bit surprising.”
However, he acknowledged Travelaire had been struggling in recent years and tried to diversify into mobile homes and other products beyond its traditional base of recreational trailers and motorhomes.
“I’m not sure how successful that’s been,” Stewart said.
The Glendale RV division had just under $9 million in sales for the first nine months of 2009 – down from about $16.6 million in the same period of 2008. Sales at the Travelaire division totalled $6 million, down from $6.7 million in the first nine months of 2008.
Glendale said in October it was debt-free and had $2.4 million in cash as of Aug. 28.

COUNTRY COACH ASSETS TO BEGIN BEING AUCTIONED OFF FEBRUARY 4TH

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- The assets of Country Coach RV will be auctioned beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 4, according to information filed with the bankruptcy court. Assets to be auctioned include equipment, inventory and furnishings.

Thos assets include 10 luxury coaches completed and ready for sale as well as 15 partially-built motorhomes, according to an article appearing int he Register Guard. Commercial Indsutrial Auctioneers of Portland, Ore., was hired by the court to oversee the auction. According to the Register Guard, the auctioneer expects the auction to bring in $5 million. However, court documents show the auction company will receive between 5 percent and 12.5 percent of all proceeds.

Items will be offered for inspection from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 3.

In a motion to settle filed with the bankruptcy court, Wells Fargo Bank was granted a first-priority lein on virtually all of Country Coach's assets, meaning they will recover most of the money raised through the sale.

However, certain provisions have been established to generate money to pay remaining creditors. Those provisions include the following carve outs:

5 percent of the first $4 million of net proceeds
6 percent of proceeds between $4 million and $5.5
10 percent of the remaining proceeds from the auction
$35,000 to pay Chapter 11 administration wage claims

"Considering the costs that the bankruptcy estate would incur even if the property were abandoned and the lack of funds to pay the expenses that the bank is willing to advance, the guaranteed minimum to the bankruptcy estate to be paid by the bank, the monies to be
paid for the benefit of certain priority wage claims," wrote Trustee Kenneth Eiler in filing a report with the court. "The cost and uncertainty of engaging in any litigation with the bank, the delay that would be occasioned thereby and the uncertainty of the outcome, the trustee recommends the settlement."

According to the Register Guard, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Albert Radcliffe last month ordered Country Coach be liquidated after it missed repeated deadlines for submitting a reorganization plan. Riley Investment Management, which is headed by Bryant Riley, both an owner and creditor of Country Coach, is not expected to receive any money.

SOME ASSEMBLIES COULD CONTAIN A DRIVE PIN THAT IS BELOW SPECIFICATION AND MAY BECOME DISENGAGED FROM THE BRAKE ARM CAUSING SEPARATION OR LOOSENING OF THE PEDAL FROM THE REMAINDER OF THE ASSEMBLY.
Consequence:
IF THE DRIVE PIN BECOMES DISENGAGED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY, IT COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE BRAKING FUNCTION AND/OR CAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO INTERFERE WITH THE THROTTLE PEDAL FUNCTION. EITHER CONDITION COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy:
